March 6, 2009 – 5:26 pm

A specially designed polyolefin resin based on thermoplastic elastomer and thermoplastic polyolefin technologies and developed for medical device and pharmaceutical packaging applications is offered in a range of grades that vary in heat resistance, toughness and flexibility. Available for both rigid and soft applications requiring durometers from 20 Shore A to 65 Shore D, Meliflex from Melitek a/s is produced from pure and chemically inert raw materials, is free of latex and PVC and contains no phthalate plasticisers. It features very good optical properties, kink resistance and resilience and impact strength at low temperatures. Suitable for cast and blown film extrusion, tube extrusion, injection moulding and blow moulding, the resin can be used to produce infusion bags and sets, parenteral nutrition systems, haemodialysis sets, drug-delivery systems and catheters. It can be sterilised by means of steam, EtO and beta or gamma radiation.
